The Feagin Leadership Program: An Overview
The Feagin Leadership program is an exciting educational experience that engages the Feagin Scholars (a select group of Duke medical students, residents, and fellows) in their own leadership journeys. The program includes five leadership sessions, individual coaching, monthly team meetings, attendance at the Feagin Forum, and the development of a leadership project.
Session 1
Session 1 takes place in September, two months after the Feagin Scholars are announced. The inaugural session consists of introductions, learning about the Duke Healthcare Leadership Model, team building, coaching, and assignment of the scholars to the projects that they will present at the Annual Forum in May.
Session 4
Session 4, which takes place in January is primarily devoted to teamwork in preparation for the Forum in May.
Session 2
Session 2 takes place in October. The focus of the second session is emotional intelligence and mindfulness.
Session 5
In the final session, to be held in February, productive conversations are facilitated to ensure that our scholars leave the program armed with what they learned throughout the past sessions.
Session 3
Session 3 takes place in December and delves into professional etiquette, values, leadership philosophy, resilience and dedicated team time.
